I'm Leonardo Cecchin

Born in northern Italy on 15 June 1996, since I was a kid I loved mechanics, taking all opportunities to build something, fix machines, or disassemble them.

About Me

On October 2020, I graduated in Automation and Control Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. Currently, I am a PhD student at Corporate Research of Robert Bosch GmbH, working on Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for hydraulic systems.

I am driven by my curiosity: be it in my work, my free time, my vacations, I always strive to learn something new.

I love mountains: freeride skiing, enduro mountain biking, canyoning and free climbing. I love mountains since they give me the opportunity to relax and enjoy nature without everyday concerns.

I always feel the need of doing something, be it designing and building something or doing sports, it is just not like me to laze around.

I owe a lot to being grown in a farmhouse, where I could learn craftmanship and play around with machines and  tools.

Optimal Control

During past years I developed a deep interest in optimal control. I believe that it is the perfect combination of mathematics and engineering.

Industrial Implementation

“Theory without practice is empty”, as much as I love control theory, I also love its implementation: seeing it work and solve real challenges.


In my professional life, I am focusing on improving my management skills, on a personal, project, and teams level.
